Dr. Laura Nelson joined Prevea Health as the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer – Northern Region in July of 2015. Dr. Nelson's passion is to provide leadership and assist the organization in the delivery of excellent service and care for patients and communities. Her position responsible for provider recruitment and working closely with Prevea’s Chief Operating Office to ensure efficient operations of clinical departments to develop and maintain strategic relationships, and assist in the implementation of Prevea’s strategic goals , tactics and objectives.
Prevea, headquartered in Green Bay, Wis., partners with HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center in Green Bay, HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, HSHS St. Clare Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls, HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chippewa Falls, to provide access to more than 250 physicians in more than 60 specialty areas. Dr. Nelson graduated with a bachelor of science in medical technology from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She then went to medical school at University of Wisconsin-School of Public Health and went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at Marshfield Clinic St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, Wis. Dr. Nelson completed a master’s degree in business (MBA) from the University of St. Thomas in 2001. Most recently, Dr. Nelson was the Chief Medical Officer of Marshfield Clinic and was responsible for the overall clinical operations of a 600+ physician multispecialty group. She has more than 25 years of experience in administrative roles including working collaboratively with a health plan, graduate medical education programs, family health centers, and other organizations in the delivery of health care in communities for more than 45 locations. Dr. Nelson lives in Green Bay, Wis. with her husband and son and enjoys spending time with her family. |
