I started working as a machine operator at E.C. Styberg Engineering in Racine Wisconsin. Over a number of years, I
worked my way through multiple departments and processes. After 6 years I was promoted to Supervisor. Again, another
path of multiple departments and processes. Seven years later I was promoted to manager. With multiple manager
positions I was then promoted to VP of Manufacturing. Holding that position for seven years I then became the first non-
During this time, I returned to UW Parkside and obtained a BS in Engineering and a minor in Economics. I then took a
several year break, raising three children with my wife, I then returned to college and obtained an MBA.
After receiving my MBA, several classmates and my wife suggested that I write a book based on my experiences in
management, so I did. I wrote two books with the last one being “Conceptual Management.” This book was written for
the classroom environment. It covers the knowledge needed to go from a beginning supervisor to a mid-manager.
Today my wife and I are very involved with our three children and our four grandchildren.
